Michael Rubenstein
Profile
Michael Rubenstein has been Editor of the monthly Industrial Relations Law Reports since it was started in 1972 and Co-editor of Equal Opportunities Review since its inception in 1985. In October 2007, his company acquired EOR and he became its publisher.
He was educated at Cornell University and the London School of Economics. He is a former chairman, and now honorary vice-president, of the Industrial Law Society (www.industriallawsociety.org.uk) and is chair of the Disability Discrimination Act Representation and Advice Project (DDARAP). He is a trustee of the Equal Rights Trust (www.equalrightstrust.org) and of the David Wainwright Equal Opportunities Development Trust (www.wainwright.trust.btinternet.co.uk). He is a "distinguished supporter" of the British Humanist Association (www.humanism.org.uk).
He wrote the expert report on sexual harassment and the law for the European Commission and drafted its widely-used Code of Practice on measures to combat sexual harassment at work, for which he was awarded the Minerva Prize as "European Man of the Year". He has acted as a consultant on discrimination and employment law to numerous international and national organisations including the United Nations, European Commission, ILO, World Bank and OECD. He was legal adviser to the Disability Rights Commission on the revised Code of Practice on access to goods, facilities and services and a member of the Council of Europe expert committee on the future of equality strategies between men and women.
He has written books on equal pay for work of equal value, sexual harassment, new discrimination legislation, and an annual guide to discrimination case law now in its 23rd edition.
He lectures on employment and discrimination law issues for Butterworths conferences (see forthcoming conferences below), and regularly trains members of the judiciary on new legislation and key case law.

As well as writing for Equal Opportunities Review, Michael is editor of Industrial Relations Law Reports (link opens in new window).
IRLR is a monthly full-text report of key judgments of UK courts, the European Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights. It covers all aspects of employment and discrimination law.
Each month, Michael selects the cases to be reported in IRLR and writes his influential and widely-read "Highlights" commenting on the month's cases.
