With the Equality Bill looking certain to become law before the next general election, businesses will need to ensure that they are ready for one of the biggest shake-ups in discrimination legislation for many years.  The Bill goes much further than simply consolidating all the discrimination strands. It makes major changes to the substance of the legislation, which will require all employers to review their personnel policies.

This event will provide delegates with a comprehensive review of what impact the Equality Bill will have on employment law policies and what actions you will need to take to comply. Devised and chaired by Michael Rubenstein (publisher of Equal Opportunities Review), the conference features a panel of employment law specialists and practitioners who will examine the clauses which are most relevant to employment and discrimination lawyers, HR managers and diversity specialists.

Conference highlights include:

  • New definitions of discrimination
  • Changes to disability discrimination
  • Addressing combined discrimination
  • Positive action
  • New provisions on equal pay
  • The new public sector equality duty
  • An employer's and trade union's perspective

All delegates will also have access to an exclusive webcast which will take a closer look at disability discrimination, which will be broadcast on 22 April. This will be included as part of the conference fee. Delegates will also receive a complimentary copy of EOR's comprehensive multi-part guide to the Equality Bill. This conference is proving to be very popular so register now to guarantee your place.

Organisations already attending include: Burnley Borough Council, Corus, General Medical Council, Haringey Council, Herbert Smith LLP, Kingsley Napley LLP, Leeds Metropolitan University, Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service, Northamptonshire Police, Royal Mail, Treasury Solicitors Department and many more.
